• What people are saying…

“My family has loved working with Kelli! We recently completed our year-round package with her, and will definitely continue to schedule family photo shoots in the future. Starting with our maternity shoot, we loved how comfortable Kelli made us feel, and knew that the pictures would be great. Since then, we’ve had four photo shoots (newborn, 3 month, 9 month, one year) and have been absolutely thrilled with the results. Kelli has been able to capture the first year of our baby’s life, and has given us keepsakes that we will cherish forever. She’s professional without being stuffy, her turnaround time is very quick, and her images are creative and beautiful. It’s been a pleasure working with Kelli, and we’re so grateful that we purchased the year-round package.”

A Sunday stroll in Laguna

I’m sharing a LOT of images today.  #1, because I truly love every image from this session and it was hard to choose, #2, to make up a little for my lack of blogging! ;D  It’s been a great Summer, but the boys are back in school now so no more excuses!

Onto Laguna Beach…this GORGEOUS family loves to spend their Sunday mornings strolling through Laguna.  When they suggested a lifestyle session in the village, I was thrilled.  I basically followed them around for an hour capturing what they do on their Sunday adventures, a little playground, toy browsing, a break for Gelato (the best gelato – thanks Adam!!), some fun in the fountains, an overall taking in the famous Laguna scenery.  Make sure you scroll down to the last picture in this post ;D.

I adore this family and truly love being able to capture these memories for them! Enjoy!blog_059blog_073blog_074blog_076blog_062blog_061blog_064blog_060

The one and only GIRL!

Last month my Sister-in-law had a girl! Not just any girl….the only girl of the family.  There are 6 boys between us and we thought we’d never see that girl.  But, on April 28th – she arrived.  Petite, precious and just perfect! We are all SO happy to have a little pink in our lives!

Big brother, Gavin, welcoming his sister!

Sawyer’s perfectly decorated nursery…

A HUGE congratulations to Kyra and Mark!! I’m so glad your mom taught you how to share!! 😀 😀 😀

XOXO,

Kelli

WHAT CAN WE SAY? Kelli – you’ve created your magic again and the photos are “Beyond Words.” An apt description for a wonderful photographer and her ability to “capture the magic of those special moments.” Anyone might be able to take a picture – very few can capture the feelings –

THANK YOU –
Mimi and Popi

I know, I know…

It’s been way too long.  I have to admit I get a little overwhelmed as to what to “blog” first! I’ve had some AMAZING photo sessions in the past (cough, cough) 5 months!  This Christmas season was the busiest yet and it honestly has not slowed down since.  I usually post a few pictures from each session over on the Beyond Words Facebook page.   If you’re not a fan over there yet, please head on over and click that little ‘Like’ button!  While you’re at it, look around, and catch yourself up on all the beauty I’ve had the honor of capturing lately!

Another big reason this blog sometimes gets put at the bottom of my to-do list is because of these three crazy, wonderful boys of mine featured here today! Man, do they keep me busy! With only 13 more days of school left, I’m starting to get a little anxiety of having them all home for the Summer.  Yes, a few summer camps have been booked and we have some really fun things planned for the Summer.  But, I’m sure, come August 1st. I will be doing the back-to-school countdown just as they are doing the Summer break countdown right now.

Speaking of things planned for the Summer, I will be in Steamboat Springs, CO from June 6-June 21 if anyone from Colorado is looking to book a photo session.  I’m going back for my 20 year high school reunion (YIKES!), and I thought I’d stay for a couple of weeks and enjoy being “home”.

Back to this blog post, I took these pictures of my boys (and my nephew, Gavin), a couple of weeks ago.  Each year around Mother’s Day I tell the boys that all I want is for them to let me take their pictures.  I will never understand why it is so painstakingly hard to take pictures of my own kids.  I did however luck out on this day.  We had just come from soccer and getting ice cream so we headed over to the local park.  There was very little posing and a lot of fun was had. They were dirty, tired, and being their silly/crazy selves. But, I’m pretty happy with the results!  Enjoy!

I’m off to pick up these three turkeys!! Wish me luck! 😀

A wonderful gift for anyone!

One of my favorite photography products of the year is the Mini-Accordion albums!  Mini-accordions are 2.5″x3.5″, they fit perfectly in a purse (I carry 2 around with me – my mom probably has 5 in her purse right now!), briefcase, or they display themselves easily on a desk. They have a magnetic closure and come with a frosted slip cover for added protection. They are so unique, versatile, and just darn right cute!! My clients LOVE them and so do I .  I’ve made them to accompany newborn pictures, family vacations, Baby’s 1st year, family pictures, and Birthday parties.  Enough with the talk….here they are (**I am definitely NOT a product photographer :D):

I am offering a special Holiday price through December 10th.  A set of 3 for $50 or one for $18 ($4.00 off the regular pricing).  If you are a client I can use pictures from your session – or you can send me pictures you’d like for me to use.  The deadline for orders is December 10th, in order to have them delivered in time for Christmas!

Calculated risks

Last Month a dear friend of mine and amazing photographer, Erin Hughes, came down with her family.  They stayed with us for the night so we could take each others family photos (and so the kids could play and we could consume some adult beverages)!  It was my husbands idea and I thought he was crazy! My response was, “I will be a nervous wreck!! Have you seen her work?”.  My husband is a bit of a risk taker and he urged me to entertain the idea.  So, I weighed out my odds and thought – what’s the worse that can happen?  If the pictures I take of her family completely suck,  #1:she is a great friend and will forgive me and #2 she will guide me and tell me what I did wrong.  If they turn out OK, I will have overcome a pretty big fear. A win, win situation.  I already knew that she would do an phenomenal job taking our pictures so I did not even give that a second thought (except for the wardrobe drama).  As it turns out she was nervous too – which is crazy to me, but we both overcame.  I got a foggy beach and she got a seaweed covered beach – but we made do!  Last week I finished up her gallery and pressed the send button and prayed ;).  Not 20 minutes later I got the sweetest text from her saying that she loved them!  So, if they are good enough for her they are good enough to share!

Thank you Erin for making that weekend happen!! Love you and your family!!!!

XOXO,
Kelli
